Euronet ATM Scam

Money is an inevitable demand when we consider traveling. With the help of an ATM,  there is no need to carry a huge amount of money in your pocket. If more money is needed, we take help from ATMs but if it tricks you?

Yes, that’s right. ATM can cheat you how Euronet does.

People living in Europe have been accustomed to Euronet ATM. They are spread everywhere all over Europe. After you land at an airport, you will get to see this particular ATM in an ample amount.

Travelers who have been to European countries should be aware of this machine because it only tricks on foreign cards.

In 2018, Euronet worldwide fell into controversies due to its high fees during a transaction. But according to their statement, Danish banks are not cooperating with them.

A well-known travel blog shared a video where he explains its tricks and how to survive from this. He has explored many ATMs in the video.

Let me point out the tricks you will face.

  • It will force you to withdraw a huge amount of money.
  • They offer a bad rating for your withdrawal.
  • The ATM will charge you a huge amount of transaction fees.

As the ATMs are spread everywhere, it is the only option to withdraw your money but you still can avoid it. How? The points are below.

How to avoid the scam

  • Always click on the “Decline Conversion” option.
  • Use the local currency instead of foreign currency.
  • You can pay by your card also instead of using ATMs at the shop or restaurant (check if it is granted there or not).

Headquartered in Leawood, Kansas, Euroneet has 50,000 ATMs spreading across 170 countries. They are also called as bankomats. Whereas the amount for foreign cards starts from 10.000CZK, local cards start from 200 CZK.

As it belongs to a private company, you will be charged a very less amount with a local card than using foreign cards.

So, be careful when you are withdrawing your hard-earned money from this machine. You may be in a trap. The ATMs look and work like normal machines but as you insert your card, you are going to fall prey.

There is no way to complain about this issue as it is legal. Though they have made these always available ATMs everywhere, it is not safe for tourists.

Stay aware, and let your contacts know about the Euronet ATM Scam too.
